TEWU wants quick action – Antwi.

Accra, March 16, GNA The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), has urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to act swiftly in convening the Standing Joint Negotiating Committee to discuss the Study Leave with Pay quota.

According to Mr Dan Ayim Antwi, General Secretary of TEWU, delay in convening the meeting is causing a lot of dissatisfaction among the rank and file of the union.

He said when the Union wrote to the GES on February 23, 2004, it proposed Tuesday, March 2, 2004 for the convening of the meeting, but unfortunately the union has received no acknowledgement.

Mr Antwi said most disturbing was that the matter, which should have been discussed at the Standing Joint Negotiating Committee (SJNC), was brought to public domain by the GES through a publication in the media.
