TEWU/FUSAG get pay rise

Accra, Aug 16, GNA – Approval has been given for a 22 per cent increase in the salary levels of Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and the Federation of University Senior Staff Associations of Ghana (FUSAG) members of Ghana’s public universities. This follows negotiations with members of the TEWU and FUSAG for salary increases for the year 2005.

A statement signed by Nana Ohene-Ntow, Government’s Spokesman on Finance and Economy; said the increase takes effect from April 1, 2005. It said payment of arrears is to be made in four monthly installations beginning in August, this year and ending in November.

The Auditor – General has been requested to audit the levels of salaries of the affected staff to enable the Controller and Accountant General to effect payment, the statement said.
