TEWU elects new officers

Accra, NOV 27, GNA – The University of Ghana’s branch of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU), on Thursday elected new officers with Mr Augustine Karbo, Leader of the New United Front emerging as Chairman with 5,182 votes.

Mr Nantogmah Abdul Rashid, the Returning Officer, who made this known in Accra said the position of Vice Chairman went to Mr Ken Botchway of the Academic Affairs Office while Mr Frank Anku of the Revenue Office of the University took over the post of Secretary. Mr Gumah Zakaria from the Security Services of the University was elected Vice Secretary and Mr Samuel Ardayfio of the Human Resource Development Office, Trustee. The Workers Alliance for Democracy led by Mr Peter Lumor, which had ruled the local TEWU for more than 17 years, received 3.938 votes. The third group, the Workers Redemption Front led by Mr Sylvester Dzonyrah received 204 votes. The New United Front has a four- year mandate. 27 Nov. 10
