Tesano Baptist organizes free medical screening

Accra, Oct.1 GNA – The Tesano Baptist Church on Saturday organized a medical outreach programme for communities around Tesano as part of activities marking the 30th Anniversary of the church. Some of the beneficiary communities included Tesano Zongo, Abeka, Alajo and North Kaneshie.

The programme, which attracted a large number of people, would cover ailments like malaria, hypertension, arthritis, skin diseases and stomach problems free of charge.

Professor Fred Binka, Leader of the medical team said the church had been organizing free medical outreach programmes for various communities for the past five years as its social responsibility. He said the medical team, made-up of six doctors, five pharmacists and 10 nurses were drawn from the School of Public Health, Korle-Bu and Western Hills Nursing respectively.

He said the church was raising funds to support other sister churches in their evangelism programmes.

Mrs. Georgette Hazel, a Pharmacist of the medical team urged the public not to self-medicate but report any problem they had, to the hospital.

She called regular medical screening for people to know their health status and commended various pharmaceutical companies who readily accepted to assist the outreach programme by donating drugs worth 40 million cedis.

The Reverend Kweku Hazel, Head Pastor of the Church other churches not to be only concerned with the spiritual matters of their members but also their socio-economic welfare.
