Terrorism is not Islamic-Tijjaniya President

Sheikh Abdul Wadud, President of the Tijjaniya Muslims of Ghana, has noted that Islam stands for peace and terrorism is never part of it.

He said those who involve in the act of terrorism are rather pursuing their selfish agenda and are not fighting for Islam.

Sheikh Wadud said this at the third annual general meeting of the Tijjaniya Muslim of Ghana, attended by Muslim clerics, Islamic scholars and executive members of Tijjaniya across the country.

Participants deliberated on issues such as drafting of new constitution, building more educational units including a university and ways to help create employment for the youth.

Sheikh Wadud urged all Muslims especially the youth to continue to live in peace with their neighbours, adding that there is nothing like terrorism in Islam.

He also called on members of Tijjaniya to unite and help advance the course of Islam.

Sheikh Wadud announced that the next general meeting of the Association would be held in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital on November 7 and urged all members to attend.

Sheikh Wadud was appointed and confirmed by Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, as President of the Tijjaniya Muslim sect in Ghana at 47th Annual Mawlid attended by President John Dramani Mahama.
