Tepa Police arrests fuel-stealing syndicate

Tepa (Ash), Nov. 8, GNA – The Police at Tepa on Friday night arrested three suspects believed to be members of a fuel stealing syndicate in an operations at Wiawso, in the Ahafo-Ano South district. The three suspects, Simon Gyan, 35 and Robert Asare, 38, both fuel dealers and Alhaji Mahama, 28, a driver, are helping the Police in their investigations.

Two vehicles with 30 jerry cans, 20 of them filled with diesel and rubber tubes used by the suspects, have been impounded. Mr Joseph Yaw Opoku, Tepa District Police Commander, said the operations was conducted following a tip-off that some people have been siphoning diesel from equipment of Messrs P. &. W Ghanem, a road contractor working on the 45-kilometre Tepa-Mankranso road.
