Tepa fire: Data of voters intact – EC

The Ashanti regional directorate of the Electoral Commission has allayed fears that the burning of its district office at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North district will affect the data of registered voters.

Residents fear they may not be able to participate in the December 7 polls as a result of the fire outbreak which razed down the Tepa EC district office Monday dawn.

Speaking to Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako, the deputy Ashanti regional director of the Electoral Commission, Lawrence Sarpong, said the fire outbreak will have less impact on the operations of the electoral management body in the district, adding the data remains intact.

“As it stands now we still do not know the cause of the fire except we have been told a lot has been destroyed. Our data is intact because it is linked to the national database hence everything can be retrieved at the headquarters,” Sarpong assured.

The actual cause of the fire still remains unknown.
