Tepa District Hospital gets hospital equipment

Tepa (Ash), May 20, GNA – The Asanteman Council in the United States in collaboration with Project Cure and Dock to Dock Foundation, a non-governmental body at the weekend presented hospital equipment valued at 400,000 dollars to the Tepa District Hospital.

The items included ultrasound scanning and anaesthetic machines, baby radio heater, beds, mattresses, surgical and obstetric instruments. Presenting the items at Tepa, Dr Bruce Charrash, leader of the team, said the donation followed an appeal the hospital made to them through Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Omanhene of Tepa. Dr Charrash asked the Hospital’s management to take proper care of the equipment to ensure their longevity. Receiving the items, Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, District Chief Executive, thanked the donors especially the Project Cure and Dock to Dock Foundation which sponsored the shipment of the items from the US to Ghana.

The DCE also commended the untiring effort of Nana Atwenewa Ampem who masterminded the bond of friendship between Project Cure and the Tepa hospital. He said one of the most pragmatic steps taken by the government to make healthcare accessible was the introduction of the national health insurance policy. Dr Akuamoah Boateng, Medical Superintendent in-charge of the Tepa Hospital, said with the equipment people who used to travel to Kumasi and Bechem for ultrasound scanning would receive those services at the Hospital. 20 May 08
