Tema, Jan. 22, GNA — Atsu Atidamey, a 40-year-old mason who defiled and impregnated a 15-year-old niece of his landlord at Ashaiman near Tema has been remanded into prison custody by a Tema Circuit Court ‘A’. Atidamey who pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement is to re-appear on February 20, this year. The court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu heard from prosecution that Atidamey started a love relationship with the class six pupil who resides with her uncle at Gulf City, a suburb of Ashaiman from February 2007.
Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah, prosecuting, said the victim disclosed the relationship to her uncle in October when it was detected that she was pregnant.
Prosecution said Atidamey was arrested by the police after accepting responsibility for the pregnancy when he was confronted by victim’s parents.
