Ten policemen, five businessmen charged with dealing in cocaine

Sekondi, June 2, GNA – Ten policemen and five businessmen on Friday put before a District Magistrate’s Court in Sekondi for allegedly engaging in prohibited business relating to narcotic drugs. Their plea was not taken and the court remanded them to re-appear on June 14.

The case for the prosecution was that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) had a tip-off that some police officers were escorting some dealers in cocaine to la cote d’Ivoire and detailed the Western Regional Police Commander to track them down. He said the Regional Police Commander launched an operation at dawn on Friday and arrested the accused persons at Half Assini.

T’Poly students remanded for alleged rioting

Sekondi, June 2, GNA – Forty-two students of the Takoradi Polytechnic were on Friday remanded by a District Magistrate’s court in Sekondi for allegedly rioting with weapons.

Their plea was not taken and were remanded to reappear on June 11. The prosecution did not give the facts of the case.
