Ten persons convicted for selling under unhygienic condition

Koforidua, April 1, GNA – A Koforidua Magistrate’s Court on Friday imposed a fine of GH¢50 on 10 persons each for selling fried fish under unhygienic condition. The convicts, Afua Ohenewaa, Comfort Ofori, Mohamed Rade, Agnes Korkor, Patricia Demanya, Faustina Asiedu, Evelyn Quist, Ama Badu, Auntie Ataa and Gifty Manu, all fried fish sellers, pleaded guilty. The court ordered the Environmental Health Division of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to destroy the fish. Mr Philip Tawiah of the Division, told the court presided over by Mrs Cynthia Wiredu that as part of measures to control cholera epidemic in the Municipality, a team of Environmental Health officers embarked on an exercise to enforce sanitation rules. He said the team arrested the convicts selling fried fish infested with flies and dust that could cause cholera. 1 April 11
