Ten killed, 13 injured in accident on Apam-Winneba road

Gomoa-Onyaadzi (C/R), Jan. 19, GNA – Ten people were killed on the spo= t and 13 others received various degrees of injuries when a 207 passenger bus and a Cargo truck were involved in a head-on collision near Gomoa-Onyaadzi in the Central Region on Wednesday.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at the accident spot, Mr Jess Wobil, Leader of the Rapid Response Unit of the National Fire Service from Winneba= , said the accident occurred at about 0500 hours Wednesday morning. He said the 207 bus was heading towards Accra while the cargo truck wa= s from Tema to Cape Coast.

Mr Wobil said the drivers of the two vehicles were among the dead, adding that the 207 driver had been identified at Kwabena Tetteh. He said the injured had been rushed to the Apam Catholic and Winneba government hospitals for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased had also been deposited at the Winneba government hospital mortuary. According to Mr Wobil, personnel from both Apam and Winneba Fire Stations and some police officers were assisting the victims.
