Ten die in motor accident at Gomoa-Assin

Agona Swedru (C/R), May 5, GNA – Ten people resident at Agona-Swedru perished on the spot at Gomoa Assin on Saturday when a Benz bus in which they were returning home after attending a funeral at Mankessim was involved in an accident.

Two others, who received various degrees of injury, have been sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Those identified among the dead were: Efuah Amoah, 30 years old Business Woman; Antie Emmaa from Otabilkrom, suburb of Swedru; Yaw Brako, an Accountant at Agona Duakwa Salvation Army Clinic and Abena Kwansima, Fried Fish Seller.

Others were: Madam Kate Aseidu, Mother of the Agona District Chief Executive, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng; Victoria Aseidu, Seamstress at Swedru and Kwamina Amissah, a Driver (Alias Okoto).

Those who sustained injuries were Kofi Asante, an Instructor at the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre at Duakwa and Esi Paintsiwah, a Kenkey Seller.

When the news of the accident broke out, relatives of those who attended the funeral ran helter-skelter to the morgues at the Winneba and Apam Catholic Hospitals.

One of the dead, Efuah Amoah was later found trapped under the wreckage.

The Apam Police is investigating the cause of the accident.
