Ten die in motor accident

Ten members of an Accra keep-fit club were killed in a fatal motor accident on the Accra-Dodowa road last Saturday.

Members of the club were from a funeral at Odumase Krobo when their Nissan Urvan bus (with registration number GR 5906 Q) burst a tyre at Afienya at about 4:30 p.m.

DSP John Agboado, Tema Regional Commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit told newsmen on Monday that one died on the spot while the nine others died on their way to the 37 Military Hospital.

Only the driver has so been identified as Joe Bonney. The police have appealed to the public to help identify the others.

DSP Agboado said three others who sustained serious injuries are on admission at the 37 Military Hospital.

In another development, one woman died on the spot when another Nissan Urvan bus (with registration number GW 4187 Q) travelling from Ho to Accra also burst a back tyre between Afienya and Dornyumu Junction.

Other passengers who sustained injuries are on admission at the Tema General Hospital.

The body of the woman has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary. She is yet to be identified.
