Ten foreign nationals have been arrested in Weija, a suburb of Accra, following a joint operation by the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Revenue Authority targeting suspected cybercrime activities.
The suspects, made up of Chinese and Malaysian nationals, were picked up during an intelligence-led raid conducted by the Cybercrime Unit. They are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
According a statement by the Police, the operation led to the seizure of over 800 assorted mobile phones, several computers, and numerous charging devices believed to have been used in illegal online schemes.
All confiscated items have been retained for forensic examination, which officials say will play a key role in building the case.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service assured the public that it remains committed to cracking down on cybercrime networks operating within the country.
“We will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure that Ghana does not become a safe haven for cybercriminals,” the statement reads.
This latest bust highlights growing concerns over the use of Ghanaian territory for transnational cybercrime operations, often involving foreign nationals. Investigations are still ongoing, and more updates are expected in the coming days.
