Tema Teachers still on strike

Tema, Oct.18, GNA – Members of the Tema District Teachers Association (TDTA) are still on strike, despite the call by Mrs Irene Duncan-Adanusah, General-Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) to striking teachers to resume work at the weekend, Mr Jones Afesi, Spokesman for the association, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Tema on Monday, that the members had decided to return to the classroom after a meeting with the District, Regional and National GNAT Executives on Friday.

He said at a meeting, the 300 members demanded from the GNAT executives to “clear issues on the salary negotiations. Clarify how the 20 billion cedis is going to be shared among teachers.” Mr George Asare Yamoah, Municipal Chairman of GNAT, told the GNA that the Regional Executive members would dialogue with TDTA on Tuesday, to find a solution to the impasse.
