Tema, South Korean City To Establish Sisterhood Relations

Tema (GAR), June 24, – Tong-Jak Gu, a suburb of Seoul, the capicatal City of the Republic of Korea, has expressed its desire to establish sisterhood relationship with the Tema Municipal assembly (TMA). A letter from the Korean embassy in Accra to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the embassy would appreciate if the ministry could inform them of the position of TMA. Tong-Jak Gu, with a population of 440,000, was established in April, 1980. Commenting on the relationship, Nii Armah Ashietey, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, told newsmen that most of the time, inter-city relationship is formed at the topmost level, and that when the officers are changed, the relationship collapses. Nii Ashietey welcomed the idea of the partnership between Tong-Jak Gu and TMA and gave the assurance that efforts would be made at all levels – the industrial, education, fishing and family levels – to preserve it.
