Tema residents complains about defective sewerage system

Tema, March 14, GNA – Residents of site 20 in Tema Community One, at weekend staged an hour demonstration at the premises of the Waste Management Department of the Municipal Assembly in protest against faulty manholes in the area, which is exposing them to environmental hazards.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Larweh Kugblenu, a resident said the problem had persisted for the past two months.

However, Mr Isaac Kodwo Ferguson, Head of the Sewer Maintenance Section of the Department said they were working to rectify the situation.

He explained that the main sewer line was blocked with waste materials leading to a back flow. The Engineer said the rains had compounded the situation.
