Tema Polyclinic gets foetal stethoscope

The Tema Cocoa Marketing Company Limited Ghana Ladies’ Club on Friday donated a foetal stethoscope and toiletries worth Ghc2000 to the maternity ward of the Tema Polyclinic.

The Ladies’ Club presented the items in fulfillment of a promise made to the maternity ward some months ago when members visited the facility.

The foetal stethoscope would help obstetricians and midwives of the polyclinic check the movement and heartbeat of unborn babies in the womb.

Madam Evelyn Kyei, President of the Ladies Club, said her group normally identifies the pressing needs of selected institutions and helps to address such needs.

According to her, the nine-year-old club presented the items as part of its corporate social responsibility.

She said apart from the donation, similar presentations would be made to individuals to undergo surgeries during this Christmas holidays, adding that more of such donations would be done in 2014.

Mrs. Sylvia Nutakor, Deputy Director of Nursing Services (DDNS) of the Tema Polyclinic, received the items on behalf of the maternity ward and expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the club.

She appealed to philanthropists to emulate the good gesture of the club, and donate to hospitals to help reduce maternal and child mortality.
