Tema motorway sealed off due to accident

The Accra-Tema portion of the Tema Motorway has been sealed off as a result of an accident involving a gas tanker.

Eyewitness reports say the gas tanker somersaulted on the Accra-Tema portion motorway around 6:30am Monday and this has created heavy vehicular traffic on the motorway.

The Deputy Tema Regional Fire Officer, Timothy Osafo Affum, who confirmed this on Onua FM’s Yensempa, explained that they sealed off the Accra-Tema portion of the road to avoid any casualty.

He said the tanker [number yet to be known] was carrying gas from Accra to Tema but somersaulted around the Klagon section of the road. The Fire Officer said officers from his outfit and the police got to the scene after they got the hint. In order to avert any casualty, he advised, all drivers using the Accra-Tema side of the motorway should look for alternative roots.

Mr. Osafo Affum said they have been arranging for another gas tanker to come and off-load the gas from the accident tanker before the road will be opened.
