Tema Methodist Diocese holds 13th Annual Synod

Tema, May 7, GNA – The Bishop of Tema Diocese of the Methodist Church, on Thursday underscored the need for the

Church to develop and implement programmes to promote the fight against corruption and ensure equity and fair play

in society. Making the call at the official opening of the 13th Annual Synod of the Church in Tema, Right Reverend Winfred

Ametefe urged members to embark on programmes that would support the poor and fight poverty. The Synod is on the theme: “I will give you everywhere you set your foot. More land to be possessed.” Bishop Ametefe asked Christians to help in the fight against racism, ethnocentrism and political polarisation. The Church, he said, should help develop the spiritual part of man, adding, “our spirituality should enable people to

discover that the Christian Mission is grounded in the call of God.” “We should endeavour to nurture and authenticate spirituality the desire to listen to God.” He asked Christians to conform to the Law of God, and to make it their rule. Bishop Ametefe expressed the need for people in authority to equip the youth with employable skills and offer them

the resources to make them self-reliant. Very Rev. Thomas Brown Forson, Superintendent Minister of the Tema Circuit of the Church and Secretary of the

Synod, observed that without the spirit of oneness and practical demonstration of faith and love, Christians cannot

build a spirit filled and a spirit-led mission. Mr Abraham Odoom, Circuit Steward of St Paul Methodist Church, stressed the need for the mission to acquire and

secure lands outside the Metropolis for future development projects.
