Tema MCE out of NDC parliamentary primary

Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has declined an offer made by his supporters to contest for the Tema East National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary.

Although a form was picked on his behalf, he did not file his nomination documents to contest, Mr Adams Iddrisu, NDC Deputy Secretary in Tema East told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday.

Mr Odamtten told the GNA that he wanted to concentrate on his task of restoring the Tema Metropolis to its former glory.

So far, four people including Mr Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, a former Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, have filed before the close of filing of nominations on Thursday, September 10.

The rest are: Mr Noah Apedoe, Mr Albert Nuamah and Mr Michael Nii Abbey.

According to Mr Iddrisu, each person paid GH¢ 10,000 as required and when vetted, they may be allowed to contest in the primary scheduled for October 7.
