Tema is ready for Tuesday’s elections

Tema, Dec.6,GNA – Mrs Philomena Edusei, Tema Municipal Electoral Officer, said on Monday that preparations were underway for smooth Presidential and Parliamentary polls in the Municipality on Tuesday, December 7.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA)in Tema, she said all voting materials had been dispatched to the Police Stations for distribution to the 362 polling centres in the five constituencies. Mrs Edusei said 377,412 eligible voters were expected to exercise their franchise.

She appealed to polling agents to be punctual at the polling centres before the ballot boxes were opened for the voting process to take place on schedule.

Mr George K. Scot, Municipal Coordinating Director, said the Assembly had set up a committee and an information room to monitor the elections. A survey carried out by the GNA indicated that most people expected a peaceful elections, while few others expressed apprehension about the political tension between the ruling New Patriotic Party and the main opposition National Democratic Congress.
