Tema General Hospital and Polyclinic to be linked up

The Tema General Hospital and Tema Polyclinic are forging partnership to help improve on maternal and child health in the Metropolis.

Dr Linda A. Vanotoo, Greater-Accra Regional Director of Health Service said facilities at the hospital are too small and often oversubscribed, hence the need to link the patients to the polyclinic.

Dr Vanotoo made the disclosure in an interview with Ghana News Agency on the sideline of the region’s first ever Anaesthetists Forum in Accra aimed at re-positioning anaesthesia as part of efforts to improve maternal and new-born survival.

She noted that the region has enough anaesthetists to help man the polyclinic.

She warned nurses and non-medical staff at referral facilities, to desist from turning away patients in the name of the “no bed syndrome,” explaining that it is only a medical doctor who could turn away a patient.
