Tema East NDC organizer’s election bid in danger

The candidature of a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Organizer for Tema East in the forthcoming District Assembly election may be in danger after his conviction became a topic for discussion among the electorates in Tema Newtown

According to court records made available to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Frederick Kojoga Dekagbe was convicted for stealing in 2013 by a Tema District Magistrate Court, Community Centre.

He was charged with stealing, contrary to section124 (1) of Act 29, 1960 and paid a fine of 20 penalty units after pleading guilty.

Mr Alex Ankobia, Greater Accra Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), told the Ghana News Agency in a telephone interview that the EC was now aware of the issue and that he was waiting on the Headquarters of the Commission for directions on the matter.

Mr Dekagbe is one of the contestants vying for the Dade-Agbo Electoral seat in Tema Newtown.

All attempts to contact him proved futile.
