Christians in the Tema Metropolis on Sunday joined their fellow worshipers all over the world to commemorate Palm Sunday with a call on believers to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ.
The theme of humility which ran through most sermons marked the last trip of Jesus to Jerusalem where he later suffered persecution and death.
Most worshipers sang and waved flowers and palm branches at church, while others also had processions on some principal streets to commemorate the biblical triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
At the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Redemption Congregation, at Tema Community nine, church members observed the day in the church auditorium while the children department had a procession in the community with brass band music.
Mrs Barbra Asempa, a Presbyter, in a sermon titled, “Lord Save Us Now”, urged all Christians to hold fast to the tenets of humility and obedience just like Jesus Christ.
Mrs Asempa said in times of trails and afflictions Christians must remember to glorify God and be obedient to his laws.
She said by being steadfast, God would exalt them, noting that it was sad that some Christians became desperate and visited ungodly places when going through tough times.
She reminded Christians to be humble by cherishing other people’s opinions and seeing the good in their subordinates, instead of lording their positions over them.
The Presbyter also urged churches to use the Easter period to reflect on the death of Christ and emulate his good works to enable them humble themselves to mankind and obey God.
