Tema Catholic Church remembers the sick, aged

Tema, Dec. 26, GNA — The Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish at Tema Community eight on Tuesday prayed and held a Christmas party for the sick and the aged to mark this year’s Boxing Day to give them hope and comfort in life. They were anointed with Holy Oil and feted to soft drinks and fast foods at the church premises, an occasion which also marked the Feast of Saint Stephens who continuously shared with the needy. Among them was an 85-year old lady, Madam Salome Worwornyo who appeared very hearty.

In prayers, Very Reverend Father Alfred Atta-Eshun, Parish Priest said festive occasions needed to be celebrated with the needy who are often forgotten in order to give them psychological healing and happiness. He therefore called on society to always remember to care and share their joyful moments with the sick and aged to relieve them of loneliness. Rev. Father Atta-Eshun said the parish wishing to always see the needy relieved, has set aside some days for visitation and donate to them through their welfare committees and other societies.

The Parish Priest exhorted Ghanaians, especially the youth to lead honest and healthy lives which would go a long way make them live longer. He said certain lifestyles like the indulgence in negative social behaviours often leads one into temptation and eventually mishap and underscored the need to let truthfulness reflect in their lives. Rev. Father Atta-Eshun stressed on forgiveness of sins of those who by their deeds offend people, saying that forgiveness of sins no matter the seriousness, also brings joy to one’s life as harbouring of bitterness causes sadness.
