Tema Assembly Demolishes Part Of Church Building

Sakumono (Greater Accra), 9 Oct.,

The Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA) and Tema Development Corporation (TDC) yesterday demolished part of the structure of ”Hope International Church” situated on a road at Baatsona. Mr Samuel Yaw Akoto, the municipal engineer who led the task- force said the members had constructed the church into a potion of the road and had defied all warnings by building supervisors to stop their illegal work. Some buildings which had been constructed in water courses in the area were also demolished while others infront of the Coca Cola Bottling Company which made the area unsightly were pulled down. A developer who had quickly constructed his house to knee level at an area earmarked by the assembly for a trade fair zone was pulled down at Baatsona. At the SSNIT flats at community three, kiosks and tables that had been built to sell goods which made the community look clumsy were also demolished. Mr Akoto said the demolition exercise is an on going programme aimed at stopping people who put up illegal structures, even building, on sewer lines and man-holes.
