Telecel Ghana Foundation supports women in agribusiness with digital and financial training

Telecel Ghana Foundation, in collaboration with Wan-HiveGhana, has organized digital and financial literacy training for women agribusiness in the Bono Region.

The two day training, which started on Wednesday, is to empower women in agribusiness sectors with digital and financial literacy skills.

Women over 200 are expected to participate in the smart skills for women in agribusines training in Sunyani to help them grow their agribusiness.

Head of Telecel Foundation and Sustainability, Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson speaking in an interview with Kaakyire Kwasi Afari on Wednesday, September 24, believes the participants will be equipped with how to manage their financial aspects and use social media to advertise their agribusiness.

In an exclusive interview, Janat Issifu, Chief Executive of WAN-Hive Ghana, stated that her organization is a female-focused innovation space dedicated to providing sustainable mentorship and education for young females to build careers in technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

According to Issifu, WAN-Hive Ghana’s core mandate is to discover, develop, and deploy women-led innovations in Ghana, strengthening their existence, business operations, and contributions to the digitalization and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Hence, she described her partnership with Telecel as strategic to empower women in agribusiness.

She called on the participants to leverage on the training to invest in their agribusiness, warning against focusing on buying funeral cloths and expensive materials.

Some participants who spoke to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari commended Telecel Ghana Foundation for the insightful training, noted that such training is paramount on knowing how to use social media and to become financial literacy.

One woman bemoaned land litigation, lack of financial support, and illiteracy rate, affecting women in agribusiness.
