Teenager in suicide bid

Tarkwa (W/R) Jan.20, GNA – Kofi Owusu, 16, attempted to commit suicide at Nsuta, near Tarkwa, because he claimed his father was unable to cater for him and also maltreated him Owusu, who is in a critical condition, has been transferred from the Ghana Manganese Company Hospital at Nsuta to the 37th Military Hospital in Accra.

Mr Stephen Agyapong, Father of Owusu, said he went out leaving the boy alone at home but had a call from one of his neighbours that his son was bleeding profusely through the nose. He said he quickly went home and rushed the victim to the Ghana Manganese Hospital at Nsuta and later reported the incident to the Nsuta Police.

DSP Godfred Anim, Tarkwa District Police Commander, said Owusu told the Police that, he wanted to take his life because his father maltreated him and did not cater for him.
