A circuit court at Nkawie has remanded into prison custody an 18-year-old student of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School (SHS) for allegedly attempting to murder a colleague student.
Amadu Abdulai, the accused, who pleaded guilty to the offence would reappear before court on July 27.
Police Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie that the accused and the victim, Philip Asante, are both first year students of the SHS in the Atwima-Mponua District.
The prosecution said on June 20, Abdulai invited Asante for private discussions after the close of the evening studies and the latter obliged.
Sgt Adjei said the accused led Asante to a dark corner of the school compound without any provocation hit his head and neck with a big stick until he lost consciousness, and he (accused) left the scene.
The prosecution said some students saw the victim lying in a pool of blood and they raised the alarm.
Sgt Adjei said Asante was rushed to the Nyinahin Government Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where he regained consciousness, and mentioned Abdulai as his attacker.
The prosecution said the accused admitted the offence and said he did not known what prompted him to violently attack the victim.**
