Technician in court for defrauding lover

Accra, Aug. 6, GNA – A technician who allegedly defrauded his lover of GH¢5,000 cedis under the pretext of providing her with a room and marrying her but failed to do so was on Wednesday put before a Circuit Court in Accra.

David Adedoe, who is said to have used some of the money to expand his business, pleaded not guilty to two counts of defrauding by false pretences.

The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢ 6,000 and he will reappear on August 18.

The prosecution said in September 2006, Adedoe proposed love to the complainant, Ms Emelia Serwa Prempeh and promised to marry her. The prosecution said as the relationship grew steadily, Adedoe collected GH¢4,200 from her to enhance his business. In 2007, Adedoe also collected GH¢ 800 cedis from her to rent a room for her but he failed to do so and went into hiding. He was arrested at Abeka La Paz in Accra on July 22 upon a tip-off.
