Technical University students to march against government

Students of the various technical universities/polytechnics across the country will be demonstrating against the government on Tuesday, September 5.

A communiqué signed by Kumah Alfred Brown, spokesperson of Polytechnics Students Association, said: “We are hereby informing all polytechnic/technical university students nationwide, especially the 2015/16 and 2016/17 year group of students, of our upcoming peaceful demonstration against the government in regards to our graduation and certificates.

“It has been more than a year we completed school without certificates to seek for jobs or even further our education due to government’s refusal or inability to constitute the governing councils of our various institutions.”

It added: “Per this notice, all affected students are to join the demonstration to register our disappointment in the government and to tell the world how much pain we feel inside as victims of the situation. As contained in the 1992 constitution article 21(1)(d), we have been cleared by the police and so our demonstration is legal by all standards. We all know how much opportunities we have missed as a result of the situation. Come and let’s fight together for our certificates.

“The route is Obra Spot, Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Farisco, TUC- Accra Technical University, Old Parliament, Atta Mills High Street, old Hearts of Oak park and the attire is Red and black ( school attires is also good).”
