Technical institutions to offer core science subjects

Asankrangwa (W/R), Feb 9, GNA – Technical institutions would offer core science subjects and mathematics in addition to technical subjects from September, Papa Owusu Ankomah, the Minister of Education, Science and Sports, has said.

Announcing this during a visit to Asankrangwa Secondary Technical School on Wednesday, he said this was to enable technical students to qualify for tertiary institutions under the new education reforms. The Minister was on a three-day tour of the Western Region to inspect educational infrastructure.

Papa Owusu Ankomah said from September this year the school would run as a pure technical institution and that the government was placing emphasis on technical and science education to make it possible for the country to develop.

Mr. Sedanu Kwawu, the Headmaster of the school, took the Minister round the school.
