Teachers urged to sow good seeds in pupils

Kpale-Xorse (V/R), Sept. 16, GNA – Reverend Samuel A. Amankwa, Volta Regional Director of Education, on Tuesday urged lower primary school teachers to “sow the seed of goodness and hard work” in their pupils. He urged them to “teach the children the way they must go” by instilling in them values such as good behavior, respect, dignity and honesty.

Rev. Amankwa said this at a ceremony to welcome some kindergarten children to primary one at Kpale Xorse. He urged teachers to make learning enjoyable to the children so as to develop attributes of discipline, peace and orderliness in society. Rev. Amankwa appealed to parents to show interest in the education of their children and that “education is not just about sending your child to school but providing the child with educational needs and ensuring that the child does well at school”.

Ms Rosemund Keteku, Ho Municipal Director of Education, said there was the need for community ownership of kindergartens to ensure that all children remain in school. Togbe Asio XI, Chief of Kpale-Kpalime, commended teachers in the area for their hard work that is reflecting in the academic performance of pupils in the area to the extent that class one pupils are able to read and write. He appealed to the municipal assembly and Education Directorate to help build a computer laboratory in which computers the community bought for the school could be installed.

Mr Leonard Kokoroko, Presiding Member of the Ho Municipal Assembly, said the assembly was doing its best to help resolve challenges affecting education in the area.
