Teachers urged to accept postings to rural areas

Twifu Kayireku (C/R), March 4, GNA – Mr Abraham Odoom, Deputy Minister Designate for Local Government, on Wednesday inaugurated a four-unit teachers quarter at Twifo-Kayireku in the Central Region, with an appeal to teachers to accept postings to the rural areas. The housing unit, which cost 370 million cedis, was constructed with HIPC funds.

Mr Odoom, who is also the Acting Twifo-Heman-Lower-Denkyira District Chief Executive, said it was the aim of the Assembly to create a congenial atmosphere for teachers to work in the District and asked the teachers to in turn, “die a little for the children”.

He also appealed to parents to make good use of educational facilities being provided by the government by sending their children to school and providing them with their needs.

Nana Baduo II, chief of Kayireku, expressed his gratitude to the government and expressed the hope that the provision of the facility would attract more teachers to the community.

He appealed to the District Assembly to expedite action on the construction of the 10-kilometre road linking the town to Twifo-Praso.
