Teachers told to sharpen the intellect of children

Mr Emmanuel Okomi Andoh, the Vice Rector of the Takoradi Polytechnic, has called on teachers to strive to develop the intellectual capacities and skills of children to make them more beneficial to the society.

He said academic excellence was more than making good grades in school, explaining that, it is rather the quality of being outstanding in the service to humanity.

Speaking in an interview with the GNA, Mr Andoh said teachers have a “God given” privilege to sharpen and mentor their pupils to greater heights.

He said “there are several ways of achieving academic excellence. But excellence comes with a price and only those who understand its worth can pay for it.”

The Vice Rector entreated school children to prioritize their education, set higher targets, stay focused and disciplined, adding that, these are the greatest weapons of people who have accomplished something in life.

He said parents must also show commitment, time and concern for the proper and effective management and running of schools to provide high quality education for their children.
