Teachers threaten to boycott classes over defecation in classrooms

Atwedie (Ash), March 17, GNA- Teachers at the Atwedie D/A Primary School in the Asante-Akim South district have threatened to boycott classes in protest against defecation in the school’s classrooms by unknown persons.

Mr Frank Twumasi Boahen, headmaster of the school, told the Ghana News Agency that the situation had compelled teachers and pupils to attend classes under trees.

He said the school in the last three weeks have been a scene of human waste virtually every morning, prompting the teachers to issue the threat in protest of the development.

Mr Boahene said if the traditional rulers and unit committee and other authorities did not take immediate steps to solve the problem, the teachers would boycott classes.
