Awutu-Obrachire (C/R), April 28, GNA- Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, working in the educational sector, is paying monthly allowances ranging from 50,000 cedis to 100,000 cedis to motivate teachers working in deprived communities where the organization operates.
The package is designed to motivate the teachers to offer at least one hour extra lessons to their pupils after the normal working hours each day.
Mrs Emelia Allen, Bawjiase Programme Area Manager of Plan Ghana, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency, in an interview on Wednesday said the allowances was reviewed yearly.
She tasked teachers in public schools to be innovative to stimulate the interest and confidence of their pupils in the teaching and learning process to arrest the falling standards of education.
Mrs Allen said facilities being provided by Plan Ghana, to support the educational sector would not achieve the desired results if teachers failed to put in their best.
