Teachers’ Credit Union to build 1.5 billion cedi office

Assin Foso (C/R), Dec. 7, GNA – The Assin Teachers’ Co-operative Credit Union is to put up an office complex at a cost of 1.5 billion cedis.

The project contract has already been awarded and work is expected to begin soon on the building to accommodate a conference hall, offices, a banking hall, a hostel and a common hall. Mr Eric Ambrose Owusu, Chairman, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Assin Foso on Tuesday said the Union had 1,200 members and that membership was open to other workers like traders, drivers and farmers.

He said there were plans to open a mobilisation centre in the newly created Assin South District.

Mr Owusu said delays by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department in releasing deductions of loans owed by members was hampering the smooth running of the Union. He claimed that deductions made in October had not been released and that had affected the granting of new loans to members as the money served as a revolving fund. Mr Owusu commended non-salary earners who paid their loans in cash for their honesty.
