Teachers advised to accept postings to rural areas

The Kwahu Afram Plains North District Director of Education, Mr Gabriel Adu, has advised basic school teachers to accept transfers and postings to rural areas where their services were mostly needed to help improve the standard of education in the country.

He said lots of school vacancies existed in remote areas and urged teachers to accept transfers to those schools.

Mr Adu gave the advice during the Afram Plains District Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Council meeting at Donkorkrom.

He advised pupil teachers to upgrade themselves to become professionals and also urged them to avoid contracting huge loans from the banks and micro finance companies which sometimes left them with nothing at the end of the month.

The District GNAT Chairman, Rev. Father Leopold Ettuh, advised teachers to work hard and attend school regularly to improve the standard of education in the district.

The teachers appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for early payment of their promotion and transfer grants as well as vehicle maintenance allowance to enhance their financial position.
