Teacher trainees to stage nationwide protest

Teacher trainees in 43 public training colleges are staging protests on their campuses from today, Thursday, November 16, 2017, following government’s failure to end the strike by teachers.

The teacher trainees have also been instructed to leave their campuses on Monday to pave way for their closure since there would have been no academic work for twenty-one days, as dictated by the law.

General Secretary for the teachers in training colleges, Nicholas Agboni, told Starr News no positive response has been received from government hence their decision protest.

“We have not received any positive response from government, neither have the teachers also called off the strike so we have decided as National Executive Council members to inform all teacher trainees and colleges of education to put on red arm bands on Thursday and Friday to openly register their displeasure and afterwards we will come out publicly to inform our members on what action to take next”.
