Teacher shoots himself dead

Breman Asikuma (C/R) Sept. 10 GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Akussey, a-52-year old teacher of the Breman Jamera Catholic Primary School on Wednesday shot himself dead in his room at a cottage near Breman Asikuma. Detective Police Sergeant Ernest Danquah of the Breman Asikuma Police Station who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Breman Asikuma said on September 6, 2006, Akussey and his wife Doris Awuku went to their cocoa plantation to visit their labourers on the farm at Breman Jamera.

Sergeant Danquah said on reaching the farm the deceased told his wife to prepare some meals while he took rest in the room. He said while, preparing the meal, the wife heard a gun shot in the room and when she decided to enter to see what has happened she found the door locked.

The woman raised the alarm and people nearby came to the scene and assisted to break into the room and found Akussey in a pool of blood with the gun beside him, he said.

His body had been deposited at Our Lady of Grace Hospital at Breman Asikuma for autopsy, while police investigation continues, the police said.
