Teacher remanded for defiling schoolgirl

Agona Swedru, Dec 4, GNA- A circuit court at Agona Swedru, on Tuesday remanded a 40-year-old teacher in custody for defiling a 16-year-old junior high school girl.

Francis Gorman, who teaches at the District Assembly (E) Junior High School at Agona Swedru, pleaded not guilty and would reappear before the court on December 18, 2007.

Police Detective Chief Inspector R. A. Boamah, told the court presided by Mr. Charles Adjei Wilson, that on November 16 2007, the accused asked the victim to send books to his house at Swedru-Zongo after close of school.

He said the accused locked the door and forcibly defiled the girl when she entered his room. Chief Inspector Boamah said the girl informed her choirmaster about the ordeal and he also told the victim’s parents about the matter. Prosecution said a medical report indicated that the girl’s hymen had been broken. 4 Dec. 07
