Teacher murders national service personnel at Tikobo

Sekondi July 06, GNA – A district magistrate court in Sekondi on Tuesday remanded Clement Kofi Andwi-Aka, a teacher at Tikobo Number One District Council Primary School, for allegedly murdering a National Service personnel.

The suspect will re-appear on July 25.

Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor told the court that the accused and Animah Abdulai, a teacher at the Tikobo Number One D/C Primary School, were lovers for eight years and intended to marry.

Chief Inspector Hedidor said Animah used to spend weekends with the accused at Ezinlibo, his hometown, but the relationship went sour. At about 2030 hours on June 20, he went to the house of Animah but she was not at home. When he got to the house of Innocent Kobir, a National Service personnel teaching at the same school, he found him and Animah kissing.

At 2030 hours on June 22, the accused went to the house of Animah again but could not find her.

The prosecutor said the accused waited for Animah at the main gate of her house until 0115 hours when Kobir came to see her off.

As soon as Animah entered the house, the accused emerged with a cutlass and inflicted multiple wounds on her, severing her hands. He went to the house of Kobir and inflicted several wounds on him and bolted. Chief Inspector Hedidor said Animah and Kobir were taken to Half Assini Government Hospital the same night but Kobir died soon after admission. Animah was referred to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital where her hands were amputated. She is still on admission.
