Teacher Mante DCE fails to commission new KVIP

Residents of Teacher Mante -Abomanim in the Ayensuano district of the Eastern region are furious over the Ayensuano district assembly failure to commission a newly built KVIP toilet to pave way for use by the public.

According to the residents,the situation is worrying as they are struggling to have decent place to ease themselves.

According to them, this has increased open defecation in which the only Primary School in the community is not spared as classrooms have been turned into KVIP. Also human faeces are sometimes smeared on the school’s building, residents complained.

Community members fear there may be outbreak of Cholera as the rains set in.

Reports say a new Public toilet facility commenced early 2015 and completed several months ago is still awaiting commissioning by the DCE before it is opened for use.

A unit committee chairman ,Ntow Bismarck told Kasapa News, the District Chief Executive for the Area, Mike Ofori Darko has failed to commission the project after several appeals leading to the escalation of open defecation in the area.

According to him, it was expected that the DCE commission the toilet facility during the National Sanitation Day Exercise held in the community as was anticipated but to no avail.
