Asamankese, Oct. 18, GNA – Ernest Assuman, a 19-year-old pupil teacher was on Tuesday remanded by a circuit court at Asamankese for defiling a 12-year-old school girl.

Assuman, who pleaded not guilty, will re-appear on October 26. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector S. A. Ntow told the court that on September 24, this year, Assuman, who teaches at Akwatia, met the girl at a prayer camp in town and invited her to his house but the girl turned down the invitation.

He said six days later, Assuman sent two school boys to invite the girl to his house and when she got there, he took her into his room pushed her on the bed and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. Chief Inspector Ntow said after Assuman had satisfied himself, he warned his victim not to disclose her ordeal to anyone. The girl was admitted to the St. Dominic’s Hospital for four days as a result of the injuries she sustained from the abuse.
