Lawrence Otoo, 27, a teacher, has been arrested by the police for defiling a 12-year-old pupil of the Community International School at Anaji, in the Western Region.
The Commander of the Kwesimintsim Police Station, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Thomas Bayor, told The Ghanaian Times that a woman (name withheld) reported at the Anaji Police Station that her daughter had been defiled by Otoo.
DSP Bayor said the police took the victim to the hospital for medical examination at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
He said the result confirmed that the girl had been defiled and was two months and three weeks pregnant.
DSP Bayor said the Kwesimintsim police arrested the suspect.
The Police Commander said the suspect organised extra classes for the girl and after the extra class, the suspect had sex with her.
ASP Bayor said when the suspect was cautioned at the police station, he stated that he attempted having sex with the victim but could not penetrate.
DSP Bayor said the suspect would be processed for court today.
