Teacher elected to contest Navrongo Central seat for NDC

Navrongo, Aug. 23, Mr Emmanuel Andema, a 47-year-old Teacher, has been elected unopposed as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Navrongo Central Constituency in Election 2004.

Delegates at the Party’s congress in Navrongo on Sunday, by popular acclamation, approved Mr Andema’s nomination as the only contestant, who had filed to contest the seat. Mr Stanislous Minyila, Kassena Nankana District Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission, formally declared Mr Andema as duly elected.

Mr Sebastian Doragia, the Constituency Chairman of NDC, said the way was cleared for NDC and urged the members of the Party to work hard to ensure total victory.

He said: “The NPP is now a thorn in the flesh of Ghanaians, who are now yearning for a change”, adding: “The NDC has already won the December elections but is now waiting for other parties to compete as a formality.”

Mr Richard Aduah, Upper East Regional First Vice Chairman of the Party, called on all to bury their differences, stop internal wrangling and work collectively to win all the votes in the Constituency. “Let us put our enemies to shame by winning back power easily” he said, and appealed to the members to maintain the confidence they had in Professor John Evans Atta Mills as the Party’s Flag Bearer for Election 2004.

Mr Andema thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and told them to be “foot soldiers” fighting a common cause to unseat the NPP Government in December.
