Teacher Before Tribunal For Assaulting Pupil

Tema, 5 June Frank Dua Agyemang, a part- time teacher in Tema, today appeared before the Tema Circuit Tribunal for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old female pupil. He pleaded not guilty and was granted 500,000 cedis bail to re-appear on July Eight.

Assistant Superintendent of Police M.K. Yirenkyi, told the tribunal chaired by Major Jacob Abobor (rtd) that on April 19, this year, when the accused who runs evening classes for pupils in his house was about to start classes, the lights went off.

After waiting in vain for the lights to come on again, the pupils decided to leave for their various homes but they were prevented from doing so by a sudden rain

The prosecutor said the girl took refuge in a nearby house and when she decided to leave after the rain, the accused called her and engaged her in conversation until they got to a school compound at Community Eight. The accused then invited her to one of the vacant classrooms, kissed and assaulted her. The girl reported the incident to her mother who in turn, reported the matter to the police, the prosecution said.
